U15 League Friday May 4

Cockfosters 161 for 4 beat Southgate 71 all out by 90 runs

Cockfosters began their league campaign with an easy victory over Southgate. Batting first Matt Shore led the way with an opening 24, with the mainstay of the innings being Adam Blaby, who followed up an unbeaten 37 in the recent cup defeat, with an unbeaten 44 this time around. Sam Barker provided welcome support with 17, but incredibly the top scorer of the innings were extras with a ridiculous total of 54, thanks mainly to wides and runs taken from those wides. The final total of 161 for 4 was always unlikely to be overhauled.

So it proved as Southgate were never really in the hunt with deadly Sam Barker only asked to come on to take the final wicket. Chief beneficiary was Christian who took an excellent 3 from 11 from 3 overs, as Southgate finished 90 runs short.
